If you are visiting this website for the first time or after a long absence, mea culpa. It will get better, I promise.

Months ago I decided to drop my previous hosting system and transition to WordPress. I spent some hours with a friend who knows much more about this, and kept commenting on how much they hated WordPress.

I poked around, tried to export my old site, poked around a little more, then life just carried me away, and I forgot about the whole thing.

But my previous host informed me today that my site did not exist anymore, and going there it says the site was suspended. Sensitive to the appearance of being canceled in any shape and form, I rushed to my dashboard and clicked in Go Live.

Now this is not new for me. I have often decided to just jump in and figure things out as I try to swim. But how deep the water is just dawned on me when I realized the website is full of (I assume) AI-filled postings unrelated to me.

The good news is that I am going on a 6-month sabbatical starting January 2026, and making the website better was already on my list of things to do. I just forced myself to address it sooner than later.

So please forgive me for not being more studious and starting with a better product. I will try to either recover the old postings or just clean up the mess and add new content. As you can see, I changed the title. What started as CUREplastics is now CUREs and Other Musings. I still strongly believe in Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences as a way to help students engage with and appreciate science more. However, my ideas for CUREs have expanded and taken on new dimensions. More to come!
